Goals: To use close-reading and syntax to decode difficult language; to analyze how unusual syntax and literary devices create layers of meaning in a text.
Opener: Do you think the witches in Macbeth have supernatural abilities, or are just con-artists who are skilled at taking advantage of people and situations? Make a claim with your first sentence, and then support it with at least three pieces of evidence from the play. For each piece of evidence, be sure to introduce it, cite it, and explain how it supports your point.
