Opener: On the line where your opener says “Thursday,” title it “Sentence Imitation Practice” and highlight it.
Instructions: For the second sentence, write an imitation that follows the same structure (parts of speech, punctuation), but is about something completely different. Look at the first sentence as a model.
ORIGINAL: During lunch on Wednesday, we went to Ms. Brock’s room and asked for help.
IMITATION: Under the table by the sink, they hid from their friend’s sister and giggled with glee.
ORIGINAL FOR YOU TO IMITATE: The large, bald orangutan munched leaves and grimaced at the tourists.
BONUS ORIGINAL (If you finish early, try this one): Before speaking, he checked his teeth to see if anything was stuck between them.
