Opener: Re-read the lines where Macduff exclaims his sorrow at the loss of his children at lines 255-257. Explain the metaphor about the birds (see below for words you might not know). What birds are being compared to what? Why do you think Macduff is comparing people to birds? What does it show about his feelings for them?
