Opener: Philosophy phriday! A phenomenon that frequently complicates matters in the justice system is how inaccurate witnesses often are at identifying people in police lineups. It’s not just that witnesses don’t remember what they saw. Witnesses often remember seeing very specific things that were actually very different in real life (for example, a witness may clearly remember seeing a man in a blue jacket when the person they actually saw was a woman in a red jacket). Why do you think this is?
