Goals: To assess how different media, selection of detail, and authorial bias influences our perceptions of history (ongoing)
Opener: Have one member of your group get Maus books for the group. You will need them. Choose another image from Maus (and be sure to note the page number). Describe the image in as much detail as you can, and explain why you think the image is interesting. You might look at the positions of the people, the sizes of objects in comparison to one another, and perspective. Is the panel normal sized compared to the others on the page? Why or why not? You might also look for movement, details that create emotion or meaning, and the way that conversation is presented.
